Ready to restore integrity and competence to the Cortland County District Attorney’s Office

Meet Elizabeth

Elizabeth McGrath demonstrates unmatched experience fighting for justice.  As a skilled trial attorney with 13 years experience prosecuting crimes, McGrath spent five years with the Bronx County District Attorney’s Office before returning to her old stomping grounds in Central New York to be a prosecutor in the Cortland County District Attorney's Office. She served as the Chief Assistant District Attorney in Cortland under Mark Suben and Patrick Perfetti. During her time in the Bronx and in Cortland, she successfully prosecuted hundreds of serious cases including homicides, robberies, and sex crimes. As Chief ADA, McGrath was responsible for training and supervising all ADAs. Since her departure from the office, staff turnover has skyrocketed.

As a prosecutor in Cortland, McGrath worked closely with the Child Advocacy Center with a focus on fighting child abuse and supporting victims. Since leaving the District Attorney’s office at the end of 2020, McGrath has worked for Citizens Concerned for Children where she is the Senior Attorney. In that role, she represents children who have been abused or neglected and children who are involved in custody matters.

McGrath lives in Homer with her wife and two children where she was elected to be a Village Trustee on the Homer Board of Trustees. In that role, she oversees the village’s recreation program.

Elizabeth McGrath is the choice we need for Cortland County.
